There are five types of searches which can be
performed on the Card Catalog. Typically a "Keyword" search
will allow you to find what you want. But there may be
circumstances where another type of search is more desirable.
Search Choices Defined
Keyword Search: this will search all title, author,
subject, contents notes, and series heading fields
Title Search: this will only search the title
field, and you should omit terms like "A, An, or The"
Author Search: this will only search the author field,
and you enter "Lastname, Firstname" for a full name search
Call Number Search: this will only search the call number
field
ISBN Search: this will only search the ISBN field, and
ISBN need to be entered without dashes
How to choose your search choice
When you see "radio buttons" like the ones below the "radio
button" which has a "dot" is the active choice. In this
example, "Keyword" would be the active choice.

Hint:
Will not bring up anything in Title Search, but in
Keyword Search it will bring up This will bring up "The day
America told the truth : what people really believe about everything
that really matters" by James Patterson
Author Search
This will bring up all items by Sandra Brown in all formats
Hint: Be sure to have last
name and a comma a space and the first name
This will bring up items with author's last name of "Lewis" and
first name starts with "B"
Call Number Search
This will
bring up the first 300 Fiction Books with author's last name
starting with "GR"
Hint: If you don't find what you are looking for within
the list of "300 items" displayed, and you need to go beyond 300,
just click on the last listing, scroll down to the "Browse" button
and click it. This will let you scroll from that point forward
(or backward) for as long as you want, although it does intermix
Fiction, Western, Large Print, etc. within that list.
ISBN Search
This will bring up books with that particular ISBN number
Hint: While visiting a book store, you come across a book
you want to read, instead of writing down the author, title, etc,
just jot down the ISBN and search the Library's Catalog for the book
that way. Just be sure NOT to include any dashes.
